Tijuana’s legendary taco alley · now in Chula Vista
The Original Tijuana Tacos
“La cura son los tacos.”
Adobada carved off the trompo. Double corn tortillas, real guac, char off the grill. The Rodríguez family brought their taco alley across the border, and it landed at 1011 Broadway.

The alley Anthony Bourdain put on TV
Bourdain’s No Reservations featured Las Ahumaderas, the all-night taco alley in Tijuana where this kitchen was born. The line has followed it across the border.
Nº 01 De Tijuana a Chula Vista
The taco alley that
crossed the border
In Tijuana, Las Ahumaderas is not a restaurant. It is a row of all-night taco stands the whole city knows by name, built by the Rodríguez family, stand by stand, with El Poblano and Las Quince Letras among them. Smoke off the trompos, tacos until sunrise, nosotros los tacos.
The alley became legend. Anthony Bourdain brought cameras. The line never really ended.
In 2023, founder Pedro Rodríguez carried it across the border to 1011 Broadway in Chula Vista. Google lists it as “Las Ahumaderas By El Poblano”, the family name riding along. Same family. Same trompo. This side of the line.

- 02Real guacamoleguacamole de verdad, no de mentiras
- 03Char off the grilldirecto de la plancha, con lumbre

The tacos are super good! My favorites are tacos al pastor and the loaded potato… hand made tortillas… crepes and elotes. Must try.
Great variety of tacos, crepes, elotes, baked potatoes… food tastes great and the service is just as good. Definitely recommend.
